About HoverTime

What is HoverTime?

HoverTime is a free online classroom timer and facilitation timer for teachers, trainers, and anyone leading a workshop or meeting. It runs in the browser with nothing to install, no account, and no ads.

Can HoverTime stay on screen over my slides?

Yes. Float pops the countdown into a small always-on-top window that stays visible over full-screen Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote, or Canva presentations, so you never have to switch tabs to check the time. Minimize it to a tiny countdown icon when you want it out of the way. Float works in desktop Chrome and Edge.

What does HoverTime offer for workshops and professional development?

Pair up shows random partner-finding prompts for turn-and-talks and think-pair-share. Rotation splits the time into equal turns with a soft chime at each switch, for partner shares, protocols, and station rotations. Facilitate gives a full-screen view with room for typed or pasted instructions, and gentle cues let the room know when time is almost up.

Does HoverTime have visual timers for elementary teachers?

Yes. Ten vibes include a sand timer, a shrinking-wedge visual timer, a plant that grows and blooms at zero, a sunrise, an 8-bit arcade timer, and a game show timer. Elementary teachers use them so kids can see time passing at a glance, and animations respect your device's reduce-motion setting.

Does HoverTime play music?

Each vibe has original background music for work time, from calm lo-fi to arcade and game show tracks, plus sound cues as time runs down. You can change the volume or turn music off.

Is HoverTime free and private?

HoverTime is completely free. It works on laptops, Chromebooks, interactive whiteboards, tablets, and phones. Your settings stay in your own browser, no student data is collected, and the only tracking is an anonymous, cookie-free visit count.
